One of my favorite things about Prague was the delicious, hearty food I ate.
These are some absolute MUST-TRIES while in Prague:
- Goulash

Czech goulash is a stew with beef and onions, traditionally served with bread dumplings on the side. Goulash is very common in Prague, and some places will even offer it served in a bread bowl. This warm, savory, hearty meal takes comfort food to a new level! I am not a big meat-eater, but I absolutely devoured this meal.

The bread dumplings are soft and doughy, melting in your mouth and meshing perfectly with the soupy dish.
2. Chimney Cake

Chimney cake is the sweet treat only dreams can recreate. Doughy and soft, sprinkled with sugar on the outside and a filling of your choice… you will be drooling over these desserts. They are baked by wrapping dough around wooden rollers, which is pretty fun to watch!
You can choose for the outside to be sprinkled with cinnamon, sugar, or both. The huge dough cones are then filled with ice cream or whipped cream, and topping options vary from fruit, chocolate, or caramel (or a combination!) Trust me, you will not regret trying these.
3. Dumplings

Prague also boasts its delicious dumplings in many restaurants! Made of flour, egg, and milk, these are another doughy delicacy. The inside can have either sweet or savory filling, making it perfect for any craving.
I tried one with pulled pork inside, one with strawberry and cream, and my favorite, a warm blueberry one. Mix together this soft doughy texture, warm gooey filling, and straight up adorable outsides, and this treat is just to die for!
4. Pilsner

You have to have a Pilsner while in Prague! This pale, crisp lager originated in the Czech Republic in 1842, and is now among the most popular beer in the world. The drink is great, and it is usually very cheap.
Some advice I was given: if a draft beer in Prague is more than 2€, it’s overpriced!
5. Mulled Wine (Svarak)

Prague is known for its Svarak, or mulled wine. I certainly had a few glasses of it…
The drink is red wine, sometimes mixed with brandy or other liqueurs, and it’s served hot. The delicious spices make you feel so cozy while drinking this hot drink. I visited in December, and this was the perfect drink to warm me up while exploring the Christmas markets! I would definitely recommend giving this a try if you get the chance!
Enjoy trying all the flavours of Prague!
